Setting up a direct debit for loans from other banks

Borrowed from another bank? Here’s how to set up a direct debit to pay off the loan

UAE Direct Debit System

If you’ve borrowed from another bank or financial institution in the UAE, you need to set up a UAE Direct Debit to pay off the loan.

The UAE Direct Debit System (UAEDDS) provides a secure platform for customers to set up automatic payments towards their liabilities in their own bank or to any other bank, financial institution or service provider.

Setting up a UAE Direct Debit

You must contact the lender bank to submit a request for direct debit from your Emirates NBD current or saving account. Your lender will then get in touch with us and we will notify you before we set up the direct debit.

To follow up on the status of your direct debit request, you will need to contact the lender directly.

UAE Direct Debit options

Fixed payment

If you need to pay your loan installment monthly, you can select a fixed amount to be debited from your bank account for the period of your choice.

Variable amount

When you set up the direct debit, you are allowed to set the minimum and maximum amounts. You are also allowed to choose between FIXED and VARIABLE. Please note that if you choose a variable amount and decide not to agree a cap with your Creditor in the direct debit, the Creditor will have an unlimited right to choose the amount deducted from your account, and the Paying Bank will have no liability to you or the Creditor for any dispute between you about the variable amount, unless the cap has been breached.

Cancelling a request

You will need to submit a written request to the lender bank to cancel your direct debit. It may take up to 5 working days to cancel.
