Here are a few tips to ensure you are safeguarding your information via WhatsApp:

  • Look for the green badge of verification next to Emirates NBD's name in the chat to ensure that it’s really us you’re talking to
    • You can click on the icon to verify that it’s an official business account. It should show Emirates NBD's business details
  • Data is exchanged over a secure channel between your device, WhatsApp and Emirates NBD. This information will be encrypted and cannot be seen or accessed by anyone
  • Do not reply to WhatsApp messages that request your personal information. They may appear to come from a trusted friend or business, but they are designed to trick you into disclosing sensitive personal information
  • You can only subscribe to Emirates NBD Chat Banking via your with the bank. The same number has to be used in WhatsApp
  • Do not share your mobile phone with anyone
  • Activate your SIM card with a PIN
  • Enable WhatsApp Two-Step Verification under Settings/ Account/ Two-Step Verification: any attempt to verify your mobile number on WhatsApp must be accompanied by a 6-digit PIN you create. Click to see how

Steps:

  • Open WhatsApp Settings.
  • Tap Account > Two-step verification > Enable.
  • Enter a six-digit PIN of your choice and confirm it.
  • Provide an email address you can access or tap Skip if you don't want to add an email address
  • Tap Next

Confirm the email address and tap Save or Done

You must be above 21 years old to apply for WhatsApp Banking.

It may be that you’re using a mobile number not registered with us or that you’re below the age of 21. In both these cases you can’t apply for WhatsApp Banking.

If you’ve changed the mobile number you registered with us, you can update in a few simple steps and then proceed to register for WhatsApp Banking.

No, to use Emirates NBD WhatsApp Banking you'll need to have an active account or credit card with Emirates NBD.

On the Emirates NBD chat, type ‘Opt out’ and you’ll be unsubscribed instantly.

To ensure that you’re interacting with our official business account on WhatsApp, look for the green badge verification next to Emirates NBD's name in the chat. Click on the icon and you should see Emirates NBD's business details.

If you lose your phone or if it falls into the wrong hands, please call +971 600 54 0000 and report it to us immediately as you could be vulnerable to data theft.  

Always lock your mobile device when not in use and activate your sim card with a PIN in addition to enabling WhatsApp's 2-step verification. WhatsApp 2-step verification adds additional security to your account with a 6-digit PIN you create. Once this is enabled, any attempt to verify your phone number on WhatsApp, when changing phones or swapping sim cards for example, can't be completed without the PIN.

You can just start a new conversation again. To do this, you need to have Emirates NBDs number +971 600 54 0000 in your contact list.

Emirates NBD will never ask you to share your personal information via WhatsApp. This includes your full card or account number, CVV, credit card expiry date, PIN, OTP, Mobile Banking or Online Banking ID, password, answers to secret questions and so on. You may be asked to input only the last 4 digits of your card or account number and this is safe to do.
