When money is pooled, it creates greater buying power, making it possible for investors to access a wider range of investments. The pool of money is invested by the fund managers to produce capital gains and income for the fund’s investors. Each investor in a fund owns shares that represent a part of a fund’s portfolio of holdings, which is structured and maintained to match the investment objectives stated in its prospectus.
